Five Minute Friday: Remember

I recently discovered this AMAZING blog by Lisa-Jo Baker. I feel like she is speaking to me. She has reminded me what it means to be moved by words. She has this AWESOME thing happening over there called Five Minute Friday, an answer to my inner writer with the permission and encouragement to write freely. It's a good way to let the real you shine through and encourage free thinking. Beautiful.

Here are the official rules:

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community..
This week's topic: Remember

Ready? Go.

I remember so many things when I look into the faces of the people around me, the things around me and when I see my reflection.

I look at my face in the mirror and remember bits of my history. I'm 13 and we've just moved away from really great friends. New city, new school. I'm in so much pain. My heart hurts, it feels bruised and battered. I pray the hardest I've ever prayed. I pray that God give me some reason to stay on this Earth. 4 years later he sent me the love of my life, my best friend and now husband and father to my children. Thank you God.

I look at my husband and remember. I'm 23 and marrying the funniest, sweetest and most amazing man. At the alter we stare into each other's eyes. We've been together so long already, that we can talk to each other just by looking at each other.

I look into the faces of my children and remember every day how they came into this world. I remember the sounds, the smells and the people around me.

I remember.
